NORAEBANG 노래방
SUSTAINABILITY + CULTURE + COMMUNITY + FUN!

About
Noraebang is the first Korean style singing booth (private karaoke) in Finland, where you can sing alone or with a few other friends in a cozy, private space without any pressure of an audience or need to drink alcohol.

It is made up of converted Finnish wooden sauna and soundproofed through bio-based materials like wood-fiber foam (engineered by Circular Foams) and mycelium.

Mycelium soundproofing panels were designed through participatory design workshops using 3D-printed tiles inspired by 한글 / Hangul (Korean writing system) at BioMakers Studio. Over 50 people from Aalto community and beyond participated.

---------

We started this project as art and design students from Korea at Aalto University after being fascinated by Finland's love for karaoke and feeling nostalgic for our childhood spent in noraebangs. We wanted to create one in a Finnish style and integrate the principle of sustainability. We were able to receive funding from SAB and our friends joined along the way!
